Lighting FAQ
How many downlights do I actually need per room?
Rule of thumb is one 9W LED per 1.4 to 1.8 square metres for a living area, fewer if you want a softer mood. We don't just blanket the ceiling. We plan the layout against the furniture and the joists so the light lands where you use the room.
Can I convert halogen downlights to LED without rewiring?
Most of the time yes. We swap the fittings, replace the dodgy old transformers with proper LED drivers, and re-test the circuit. The wiring usually stays put. We'll tell you upfront on the quote if your ceiling cavity needs anything else.
Do dimmers work with all LED downlights?
Only with dimmable LEDs paired to a matching trailing-edge dimmer. Mismatched gear is why so many LEDs flicker, hum, or refuse to dim down low. We supply both as a set so you get the smooth dim curve you actually paid for.
