ELECTRICAL WORK IN PADDINGTON

Paddington is a heritage suburb that's been quietly resisting change for a hundred and fifty years. Victorian terraces with cast-iron lacework, narrow streets, and tight strata-style proximity to neighbours. Council heritage rules limit what you can do to the visible parts of a property, so the electrical work here has to be invisible and the lighting has to be considered. We design around both.

Most of our Paddington work is internal renovation electrical. Owners renovating a heritage terrace want feature lighting — wall washes on stone, picture lights over art, integrated ceiling washes that don't read as fixtures. We plan the circuits during the demolition phase, fish cables through ceiling voids and under joists where we can, and avoid surface-mounted runs entirely. Dimmers go on every circuit by default in this suburb. Owners want control.

External work needs particular care. Anything visible from the street — exterior lights, intercom mounts, security cameras, charger posts — typically needs to look like it's not there. We work with heritage consultants and architects to choose fittings and routes that satisfy council and look right for the period. It costs more in time, but it gets approved first time.

Switchboard upgrades are the other constant — original Paddington terraces still running on a tiny board behind the front door. We relocate and upgrade discreetly, usually into a hall cupboard or under-stair space, and leave the heritage facade untouched.
