How much does an EV charger install cost in Sydney?
A standard 7kW single-phase install on a tidy switchboard with a short cable run usually lands between $1,400 and $2,200 including the charger. Long runs, three-phase, or switchboard upgrades push it higher. We quote everything fixed before we start, including any extras we spot at the site visit.
Do I need three-phase power for a home charger?
Not always. Most single-car households are fine on a 7kW single-phase unit. Three-phase makes sense if you want 11kW or 22kW for faster charging, run a heat pump and pool pump on top, or plan to add a second EV. We talk through the cost versus benefit on the quote.
Can the charger only use my solar power?
Yes, with a Zappi or another solar-aware charger. It watches the meter and only diverts surplus PV into the car. You can also set a hybrid mode that tops up from the grid on overcast days. We set the mode you want and show you how to switch it.
